Techint Group H&S leaders meet in Buenos Aires to strengthen safety practices
Techint Group's top safety experts met for the first time to share experiences and work on joint strategies to strengthen well-being in global operations.
At the Techint Group, safety isn’t just a protocol—it’s a core value that drives every action and decision across our global operations. This commitment to safety is constantly being woven into the daily work of our employees, customers, suppliers, and the communities we serve. Our focus goes beyond compliance with regulations; it’s about fostering a robust safety culture where people’s health and well-being are always at the heart of every decision we make.
In this context, key H&S leaders from the Group's companies met for the first time to share their experiences and best practices. Alejandro Sarubbi, Chief QHSE Officer of Techint E&C; Marina Valeria Chiesa, Chief HSE Officer (CEHSO) of Ternium; Riccardo Dovera, Health & Safety Senior Director of Tenaris; and Federico Sameghini, HSE Corporate Senior Director of Tecpetrol, analyzed common challenges and worked together to strengthen safety, health and environmental strategies.
"Safety isn’t just a preventive measure—it’s a core, cross-functional priority embedded throughout the entire company. From strategic investments to structural and environmental considerations, safety is always top of mind as we continually seek ways to make our operations safer across every aspect of our activities,” said Sarubbi, highlighting the importance of this meeting to strengthen safety throughout the company’s global operations.
"We’re on similar journeys, with much in common, and this is evident in how we work. However, there’s still more to share and collaborate on. This meeting is a great step forward," he stressed.
Chiesa added: "The meeting aimed to exchange and learn best practices around the core value shared by all companies in the Group: safety. A key focus was on preventive actions—how to implement valuable initiatives that help us mitigate high-risk events while ensuring the quality of these efforts. The goal is to channel our teams’ efforts toward addressing the most critical risks, simplifying management, and ultimately adding value to our safety practices," she expanded, highlighting Ternium's commitment to creating a safe work environment for all its employees.
Dovera added: “While we've always been in touch individually, sharing best practices and insights, this is the first time the four of us have come together in one place for a full day dedicated to discussing these critical issues. It’s a unique opportunity to collaborate more deeply on what matters most to all of us."
“Onsite presence is essential for all of us. There's a powerful commonality in being out in the field—whether conducting inspections, leading safety hours, or connecting with frontline teams. For each of us, this direct engagement forms the foundation of our activities and commitment to safety," he added, reflecting the importance of inter-company collaboration as part of the work dedicated to continuous improvement in safety.
Finally, Sameghini highlighted the value that these meetings have when it comes to aligning efforts and sharing knowledge between the different companies in the group. He concluded: "At first, there might have been the perception that we’re working in different industries—oil, steel, construction—but we’ve discovered just how much we have in common and the potential synergy we can tap into. A key focus for us is improving the quality of our preventive tools. We invest significant resources into preventive activities, yet accidents still occur. So, instead of just increasing the volume, we focused and brainstormed extensively on how to enhance the effectiveness and quality of these activities so we can achieve better outcomes.”
This meeting represents a significant step toward stronger, more unified collaboration on QHSE issues across the Techint Group. Our shared goal is to keep pushing forward in building an ever-safer and healthier work environment for everyone.
