Value networks to boost SMEs in Vaca Muerta

We’ve teamed up with YPF and Shell Argentina to supercharge the production chain in one of the world’s largest unconventional oil and gas formations. Through the creation of a Development Roundtable, Argentina’s energy sector is poised for a major leap toward a future that's not only stronger but also more sustainable.

During the AOG Patagonia 2024, three of the main operators in the energy sector in Argentina announced the creation of the Value Networks Development Roundtable. The agreement was signed by Tecpetrol CEO Ricardo Markous, who was joined by Horacio Marín, President and CEO of YPF, and Germán Burmeister, President of Shell Argentina.

"At Tecpetrol, we believe supporting local suppliers is essential, which is why, as part of the Techint Group, we’ve been running our ProPymes program for over 20 years,” explained Markous. He went on to point out that, “This agreement underscores our commitment to strengthening the Vaca Muerta value chain, and we’re ready to bring our full expertise to this task. Plus, we’re doubling down on programs that drive efficiency, environmental stewardship, and the development of local talent for the industry.”

The Roundtable’s primary goal is to boost productivity, improve competitiveness, and raise quality standards among local product and service providers. Through this agreement, the three companies will join forces to align their development programs, creating synergies and establishing open channels for dialogue and coordination with public agencies, business chambers, and key players in the production chain.

This new collaborative space will pave the way for studies aimed at spotting opportunities to enhance infrastructure and streamline processes, all with the goal of driving sustainable growth and competitiveness in the region. The ceremony was attended by Rolando Figueroa, governor of Neuquén province, and Alberto Weretilneck, governor of Río Negro province, both of whom voiced strong support for this initiative, which promises to fuel regional development.

Tecpetrol’s partnership with YPF and Shell Argentina underscores a bold commitment to the future of the Oil & Gas industry, fueling progress and creating opportunities for the communities within our ecosystem. With this powerful alliance, Vaca Muerta emerges as a driving force in Argentina’s journey toward productive transformation and growth.
