The habit of tackling new challenges: Tecpetrol moves into unconventional oil development at Puesto Parada
Oil production at Vaca Muerta is continuing to rise, thanks to the new shale oil project in the Neuquén basin. Find out more below!
Los Bastos is an oil field lying near Senillosa in the southern reaches of the Neuquén basin, which has been under continuous operation by Tecpetrol for over 30 years. It’s also the location of Puesto Parada, the first shale oil field to be developed by the Techint Group company as part of its bid to increase the volume of oil produced in the basin.
Tecpetrol excels in unconventional hydrocarbons development and is accordingly beginning to leverage the expertise gained over the past few years in Fortín de Piedra to develop this new field. The new endeavor has required the acquisition of new equipment and material resources as well as hiring additional personnel, representing both a quantitative and qualitative leap for the region.
Los Bastos and its people are already experiencing the changes involved in this new stage of their productive lives. Take Mauricio Lusso, a long-time employee of the company and current Director of Operations and Maintenance Services. He’s been working at Tecpetrol for 28 years, most of these based in the area. In the video accompanying this article, Mauricio tells us his story, which is closely entwined with the history of the Los Bastos field.
