+d Program: Adding value through diversity and respect

Seven years after its launch, the company’s gender equity and inclusion initiative has consolidated five strategic pillars and achieved female participation rates above industry averages.

Tecpetrol launched its +diversidad program in 2019 to create stronger support networks and expand career opportunities for women. Its scope has since broadened to encompass five areas: Gender, Disability, Generations, National Cultures, and LGBTIQ+. From the start, the program has been built on a simple idea: differences make teams stronger, and respect is a core part of this.

Julieta Delorenzi, Cultural Transformation Sr. Manager explains: “Women now make up 26% of our workforce and 44% of our young professionals and interns, and we’ve seen those numbers rise steadily year after year. To put that in context, the IAPG (Argentine Institute of Oil and Gas) reported in 2025 that women account for 22% of the industry workforce in Argentina. But for us, diversity is about much more than gender. The +d program is all about respect: whatever someone’s sexual orientation, wherever they come from, or whatever they believe, we should all treat one another with respect.”

Pilar Muñoz, Cultural Transformation Analyst, highlights the initiative’s broader impact on company culture: “Leadership is key. When leaders genuinely understand why diversity matters, that commitment carries through the organization and shapes the way people work together.”

Artificial intelligence, bias, and partnerships with social impact

As part of the +d program, the company regularly creates opportunities for employees to come together, reflect, and learn from one another, such as the program’s anniversary. At the 2026 anniversary event, philosopher and journalist Tomás Balmaceda spoke about artificial intelligence and bias, noting that while AI tends to replicate existing patterns, diverse teams are more likely to generate new ideas. He also stressed the importance of leadership in creating an environment where different perspectives can strengthen both innovation and team performance.

Each region also held an in-person gathering to celebrate seven years of the program, explore different aspects of inclusion, and encourage participants to carry those ideas into their everyday interactions beyond the workplace. As part of the initiative, Tecpetrol partnered with the Asociación Síndrome de Down de la República Argentina (ASDRA; Argentine Down Syndrome Association) to create a series of cloth tote bags. Over two days, employees and young people with Down syndrome worked side by side on original artwork that was later incorporated into the bag designs. Click here to learn more about their work.

Programs that transform corporate culture

The +d report 2026 highlights several of the program’s key achievements, including a workforce spanning four generations and 15 nationalities. It also notes the creation, in 2021, of a multidisciplinary governance structure that has made diversity a more explicit part of the company’s business strategy.
