Five key takeaways from Tecpetrol's 2025 Sustainability Report

New milestones in economic, environmental, social and governance performance underscore the company’s commitment to transparent, sustainable management, supported by operational efficiency and innovation.

Tecpetrol’s seventh Global Sustainability Report outlines the company’s 2025 results across its environmental, social, governance and economic results, while highlighting the challenges, opportunities and long-term vision shaping its future growth.

This year, the report is structured around five core themes:

Our Company: Expansion and efficiency in operation

Tecpetrol advanced strategic projects in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico, securing concession extensions, reaching new production milestones, upgrading operations and incorporating new technologies. Globally, the company achieved more than USD 17 million in savings by making improvements in efficiency, while expanding the use of digital tools and artificial intelligence to strengthen areas such as safety and sustainability management.

Sustainability Strategy: Environmental objectives and a commitment to the energy transition

The company has set specific environmental targets for 2028 that seek to reduce the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions and water use in its operations. At the same time, it has also invested in initiatives linked to renewable energy and lithium, as well as in innovative energy transition technologies through TechEnergy Ventures, whose portfolio now includes 19 startups and cumulative investments of USD 58.5 million.

Environment: Management and reduction of impact

Tecpetrol optimized its emissions measurement systems and stepped up mitigation actions during the year, improving emissions intensity indicators across its operations. The company also advanced biodiversity conservation and waste management initiatives, cutting total waste generation and reducing spills by 40%. In its lithium operations, Tecpetrol expanded environmental management programs in partnership with local communities.

Social: People and the value chain

Tecpetrol supports the development of the people in its communities through training, inclusion and employability initiatives. Programs such as the Roberto Rocca Scholarships continued to strengthen technical education, culture and community engagement. The company also maintained its good safety track record, with no fatal accidents recorded among either employees or contractors during the year. Across its value chain, the company continued to consolidate local sourcing: 91% of purchases were made from local suppliers, while 255 SMEs took part in the ProPymes Program.

Governance: Transparency and international standards

During the year, Tecpetrol introduced its Personal Data Protection Standard and reported that 96% of employees in higher-risk roles—including the Board of Directors—completed anti-corruption training. The Transparency Line remained active as a channel for reporting potential irregularities, while the company continued aligning its human rights practices with international standards and advancing diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Prepared jointly by teams across Tecpetrol’s operations and business areas under the coordination of the Compliance area, the report follows international reporting frameworks, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), SASB and IPIECA guidance, as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The report also underwent external assurance by PwC, underscoring Tecpetrol’s focus on transparency, accountability and consistent reporting standards.
